NOS Trailing — mobile app

2. What Personal Data We Collect

When using the NOS Trailing app we collect the following data:

Registration data:

  • Email address
  • First and last name
  • Encrypted password

Training data:

  • GPS location data (geographic trail coordinates)
  • Date and time of recordings
  • Waypoints (trail markers) and notes
  • Trail ratings (1–5 stars)
  • Weather data (temperature, humidity) – Premium only

Dog data:

  • Dog's name, gender, avatar selection
  • Date of birth, chip number (optional)
  • Vaccination expiry date (optional)
  • Dog exams (name, date)
  • Training statistics (km, hours, number of trails)

Organisation data (if applicable):

  • Organisation name
  • Organisation membership
  • Trails shared within the organisation

Video recording (Premium feature):

The video recording feature (available with Premium) uses your phone's camera and microphone solely to record video during trailing.

Recordings (video and audio) are saved only locally to your phone's gallery. They are not uploaded to our servers, we have no access to them, and we do not collect them in any way. You retain full control over these files in your device's gallery.

3. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

Providing app services

We process your data to deliver NOS Trailing app services.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract)

Analysing and improving the app

We analyse usage patterns to improve functionality.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest)

Marketing (with consent)

We may send you news and promotional offers – only with your consent.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent)

Processing Premium payments

Premium subscription data is processed by Stripe in accordance with its privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract)

4. Who We Share Data With

  • Hosting and servers: Data is stored on servers in Poland/EU
  • Stripe (Premium only): The payment processor handles subscription transaction data
  • Organisation members: If you belong to an organisation, members see your shared trails
  • Public authorities: We may disclose data to government bodies as required by law

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. How Long We Retain Data

  • Account data: Until account deletion or withdrawal of consent
  • GPS trails: Until deleted by the user or account deletion
  • Dog data: Until deleted by the user or account deletion
  • System logs: 90 days

Upon account deletion, all data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection supervisory authority in your country.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time — fastest directly in the app.

How to delete your account in the app:

  1. Open the app and go to the Profile tab
  2. Tap "Delete account"
  3. Confirm with your password

Once confirmed:

  • Your account and personal data (dogs, trails, training) are deleted immediately
  • Your Premium subscription is automatically cancelled
  • Trails you added to other users' groups remain in those groups in anonymised form (as "Anonymous") to preserve the group's history
  • Backups are permanently deleted within 30 days

Alternatively, you can request deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to contact@nos-trailing.com
  2. Use the subject: Account deletion request
  3. Include the email address associated with your account

Note: Some data may be retained longer if required by law.

8. Data Security

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Password hashing (bcrypt)
  • Secure data storage in PostgreSQL
  • Regular backups
  • Restricted data access
  • Server security monitoring

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The mobile app does not use cookies. The nos-trailing.com website uses only essential technical cookies (session).

We do not use analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.).

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We will notify you of material changes by email, in-app notification and on the website.
